The Opportunity
KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: (Mobile Health and Nutrition – Officer/Team leader)
- Coordinate mobile health and nutrition response package in assigned woreda with excellent liaise with primary health care unit directorate.
- Responsible for establishing and leading an effective mobile health and nutrition team in assigned woreda.
- Responsible for multi-sectoral initial rapid assessment data collection and analysis when needed.
- Responsible for representing and advocating key project deliverables and outcomes brought by the organization in assigned woreda.
- Responsible for preparing project detail implementation plan and procurement plan.
- Responsible for preparing project detail implementation plan and procurement plan.
- Prepare terms of reference (TOR), organize and facilitate training, review meetings, and draw best lessons/practices.
- Ensure key accountability issues are addressed during the implementation of project deliverables.
- Improving basic preventive health care at the community level with emphasis on health, immunization, and health and nutrition services.
- Conduct & undertake PHC-like consultations & provide proper treatment based on the protocol.
- Strengthening of linkages and coordination mechanisms between the community and the woreda health bureaus.
- Plan and implement the project outlined in the protocol for OTP and SC to achieve the objectives of the project.
- The health and nutrition Officer will help facilitate admission of the patient at the OTP, and SC.
- Ensure each admitted child receives adequate and quality clinical and nutritional care through existing resources.
- Ensure at all times adequately equipped and supplied with the necessary nutritional and clinical requirements – Plumpy’nut, Vitamin A, routine drugs, nutritional equipment, nutritional/medical stationeries, etc.
- Assisting the planning and promotion of awareness creation on nutrition and preventative health care issues in the community.
- Capacitate the competency of Health Extension workers in the delivery of compressive primary health care service at a health post.
- Perform other extra duties as required
To be successful you will bring/have:
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- BSc/Diploma in Nursing or Public Health (Senior Clinical/Public Nurse or above).
- To be considered for the post applicants should have at least 2-4-year experience in Nutrition programs with in-depth and up-to-date knowledge in the technical areas;
- Work in harsh circumstances and travel to the field
- Experience in facilitating and organizing training
- Computer skills, including internet navigation and various office applications; knowledge of statistical software –Epi info and SPSS
- Commitment to Save the Children values
- Proven ability to prepare bi-weekly and monthly reports and work independently and in teams
- Ability to meet deadlines and deliver quality work
- To be considered for the post; Fluency in Afar Affe is Mandatory.
