Job Summary:
The main objective of this role is to provide support to the technical team at the woreda/Zonal level by entering data collected through paper-based forms into the computer using Excel databases. The Data Entry, Cleaning, and Analysis Officer will ensure the accurate and efficient transfer of data, maintaining quality standards. Additionally, the role involves supporting the team in the piloting and implementation of mobile data collection processes. The officer will collaborate with Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) officers and Data Analysis, Learning, and Reporting Coordinators to further review, clean, analyze, aggregate, and compile data.
Major Responsibilities:
Data Entry:
- Enter data collected with paper-based tools into the computer, adhering to collection tool guidelines.
- Ensure timely completion of paper-based data transfer into computer files or databases.
- Carefully consider and make necessary corrections during the data entry process.
- Track and report on tools submitted late after the deadline.
Data Quality Assurance:
- Maintain required data quality in both hard and soft copies in a user-friendly manner.
- Verify the accuracy of data entered into the computer against corresponding fields in hard copies.
- Ensure alignment of data entry processes with functional data collection tools.
- Clean and review data before passing it to the next reviewer for further validation.
Data Verification:
- Verify and ensure accuracy by comparing data entered into the computer with paper-based data collection tools.
- Ensure completeness of data on paper-based forms before initiating data entry.
- Confirm the use of appropriate and functional data collection tools for reporting.
Data Management and Documentation:
- Document and manage reported paper-based data collection tools in collaboration with M&E teams.
- Organize and sort data in both paper-based records and soft copies following data entry.
- Safeguard data through regular backups to ensure data protection and security.
Data Cleaning and Analysis:
- Ensure consistency between documented hard and soft copy versions of data.
- Review data entered into the computer for completeness, accuracy, and validity.
- Conduct further cleaning, processing, and analysis of data.
- Support SPIR II staff in reviewing, cleaning, and analyzing collected data for compilation.
Job Requirements:
Knowledge/Qualifications:
- Three or more years of proven experience as a data entry clerk, including experience in data cleaning, review, and processing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, MS Office Word, and basic understanding of database software.
- Fast and accurate data entry skills, strong attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
- Excellent knowledge of word processing tools, spreadsheets, and office equipment.
- Basic understanding of databases and related areas.
- Proficient in English, Local Language (Afaan Oromoo), and Amharic.
- Understanding of data confidentiality principles.
Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:
- Minimum University degree in statistics, computer science, economics/agricultural economics, or related fields.
- Strong teamwork and partnership management skills.
- Ability to analyze issues within local and global contexts.
- Strategic and programmatic thinking abilities.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Strong basic IT skills.
- 30% field travel may be required.
Language Requirements:
- Proficient in English, Local Language (Afaan Oromoo), and Amharic.
