Job Description:

Plan International Ethiopia, an independent organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and promoting equality for girls, seeks a Community Project Officer for its project in Yiregalem, Sidama. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and leading community-focused activities within the Yirgalem Agro-industry park, collaborating with local government, partner NGOs, stakeholders, and community groups. This role requires someone committed to driving positive change for vulnerable children and ensuring effective project implementation.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Activity Implementation and Reporting (70%)
    • Coordinate and lead field-level project activities as per the action plan
    • Compile and submit detailed monthly, quarterly, and annual project reports
    • Provide capacity development training for project targets
    • Organize meetings, workshops, and training relevant to project implementation
    • Foster a team spirit among project staff and stakeholders
    • Implement result-based project management approaches
  2. Establish Working Relations with Stakeholders (20%)
    • Conduct regular partnership appraisal meetings with implementing partners
    • Ensure stakeholder consultation and participation throughout project implementation
    • Maintain good working relations with government partners and collaborators
  3. Project Design, Planning, and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) (15%)
    • Assist in developing the annual work plan
    • Organize project documentation for accountability purposes
    • Document and disseminate project achievements and learning

Requirements:

Qualifications/Experience Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, Anthropology, Community Development, or related field
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in community development interventions
  • Experience with institutional donor funding preferred
  • Proficiency in English and Amharic
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Qualifications/Experience Desirable:

  • Experience in gender and youth programming
  • Experience in managing people
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision

Languages Required:

  • Fluency in English
  • Knowledge of local languages desirable

Job Description:

Plan International Ethiopia, an independent organization dedicated to advancing children’s rights and promoting equality for girls, is seeking a PlayMatters Project Manager to effectively lead a team and deliver high-quality programming in the Gambella, Afar, and Benishangul Gumuz regions. This role requires strong leadership skills, project management expertise, and a commitment to achieving gender-transformative results in an emergency setting.

Responsibilities:

  1. Project Leadership and Management:
    • Lead program planning, implementation, and reporting in compliance with donor and government agreements
    • Ensure quality programming and financial management
    • Develop and implement monitoring and evaluation systems
    • Deliver outcomes related to advocacy, integration, scale-up, and sustainability
  2. Synergy, Communication, and Coordination:
    • Foster productive relationships with stakeholders, particularly government bodies
    • Coordinate with technical leads to document best practices and integrate lessons learned into programming
  3. Team Leadership:
    • Manage and motivate a diverse team to achieve project goals
    • Communicate roles, responsibilities, and expectations clearly
    • Provide mentorship and coaching to team members
    • Ensure compliance with Plan International’s safeguarding and gender equality policies

Requirements:

Qualifications/Experience Essential:

  • BA/MA in Education or related field
  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading international projects, preferably in education, with a focus on gender transformative results
  • Experience in complex emergencies or post-conflict settings
  • Familiarity with donor regulations and reporting requirements
  • Proficiency in English
  • Strong computer skills

Qualifications/Experience Desirable:

  • Knowledge of Child Protection and Education in Emergencies programming
  • Experience managing diverse teams and working with INGOs
  • Familiarity with LEGO Foundation guidelines
