BACKGROUND:

    • IRC is a humanitarian NGO providing relief, rehabilitation, and development support in over 30 countries.
    • Started work in Ethiopia in 2000, currently assisting Ethiopians and refugees in six regions.
    • Implements programs in health, water and sanitation, economic recovery, education, and more.

Job Overview:

    • CP Officers based in Gota-Biki, Dolo-Bay, and Hargele woreda will supervise and manage the child protection program.
    • Coordinate services in the camp and provide technical support to CP staff.
    • Ensure holistic program implementation following standards and procedures.
    • Mentor and build technical capacities of CP team.
  • Major Responsibilities:
    • Program Planning Development and Implementation:
      • Conduct situational assessments and data analysis.
      • Contribute to CP strategy development and revision.
      • Implement CP program, case management, and psychosocial support interventions.
      • Coordinate services for unaccompanied/separated children.
      • Design effective community mobilization and awareness strategies.
      • Organize psychosocial support activities at Safe Healing and Learning Space (SHLS).
      • Establish appropriate care systems and community-based protection mechanisms.
      • Provide training to staff, partners, caregivers, and community leaders.
    • Program Liaison, Coordination, and Networking:
      • Maintain communication and working relationships with partners.
      • Represent the program in meetings and collaborate with stakeholders.
      • Coordinate child protection working groups and awareness campaigns.
      • Collaborate with other program officers to integrate programs.
      • Ensure accountability and sound internal controls.
      • Mentor and support child protection staff.
    • Monitoring and Evaluation:
      • Participate in program review meetings.
      • Ensure accurate and up-to-date information for effective program implementation.
      • Prepare progress and donor reports.

Job Requirements:

    • Education: University Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Science.
    • Preferred experience: NGO experience, capacity building, mentoring, technical writing.
    • Key Working Relationships: Reports to Senior CP Officer, oversight from CP Manager and Addis Ababa-based Child Protection team.
    • Language Skills: Fluent in English, local language is a plus.
