Job Opportunity: Field Coordinator (WASH Emergency Response)

Organization: People in Need (PIN)
Project: WASH Emergency Response to Acute Needs of Vulnerable IDPs and Host Communities
Contract Length: Definite until February 28, 2025
Location: Based in Gida Ayana Wereda, East Welega Zone, with frequent travel to project sites
Salary: 30,140 ETB per month

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Program Development & Implementation:
    • Assist in identifying new emergency operation areas and improving the emergency unit’s disaster response.
    • Coordinate field activities, ensuring the emergency response aligns with standards and is not duplicated with other partners.
    • Support planning, implementation, and monitoring of emergency responses from inception to closure.
    • Conduct hygiene promotion activities and oversee construction/rehabilitation of hygiene and sanitation facilities.
    • Lead field teams, mentoring and coaching staff on WASH and shelter responses.
  2. Reporting & Monitoring:
    • Provide regular updates on the situation of IDPs and host communities.
    • Compile field-based reports and assist in preparing high-level updates.
    • Ensure proper data collection, analysis, and reporting systems.
    • Participate in baseline and end-line surveys and beneficiary selection.
  3. Representation:
    • Represent PIN at humanitarian coordination meetings at the woreda and zonal levels.
    • Collaborate with other actors in project areas.
  4. Accountability & Safeguarding:
    • Uphold PIN’s Code of Conduct and safeguarding policies.
    • Ensure team members follow safeguarding measures and attend necessary training.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil, Environmental, Water and Sanitation Engineering, Public Health, Social Science, or International Development.
  • 3-5 years of experience in humanitarian response, WASH programs, or emergency management.
  • Strong communication skills.
