Role purpose:
Reporting to the Principal Financial Services planning engineer, the role holder’s responsibilities will include financial services system management, capacity planning, and technology evolution to attain a service availability of 99.999%.
Technical support duties include but are not limited to architecture reviews and optimization, incident handling, detailed root cause analysis, problem management, configuration management, automation of routine tasks, documentation, and operational acceptance compliance.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
- Evaluation of new and existing financial systems infrastructure.
- Planning & design for new Financial solutions.
- Platform capacity planning
- Financial solutions technology evolution to attain 99.999% service availability
- Implementation and integration of new hardware/software.
- Optimization of existing systems.
- Internal Process Improvement under ITIL and Agile standards.
- Change management

Functional Competencies:
- Bachelor of Science Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Software Development or related subject.
- 2 years of work experience as an engineer in a telecommunications or financial services environment
- Experience in Continuous integration and deployment methodologies using automated tools such as Jenkins.
- Knowledge of mobile money systems, integrations, or financial systems
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of networking and system administration (Unix/Linux)
- Software development skills in Java, python, Angular JS etc
- Knowledge of ITIL Service Operations processes and Agile methodology. Certification in Scrum fundamentals is an added advantage.
- Proficient in database management skills
Desired
- Certification in cloud technologies like AWS & GCP
- Certification in cloud native technologies such as Kubernetes
Financial Responsibility:

Key performance indicator:
- Quarterly road map planning for all platforms within scope i.e. core G2, lending platform , payment gateway & AML
- Participate in the patching and platform upgrades projects and complete them within the agreed cost and timelines.
- Skillset modernization – continuously upskill according to M-Pesa Technology yearly skillset modernization program.
