Position Overview/Scope of role:
Responsible for all commercial and contract aspects of a project with a focus on client-facing relationships and full contract/commercial performance reporting requirements.
Top Roles and Responsibilities:
- Ensure that the contract is carried out in a cost-effective manner – manage the Cost Versus Allowable process and Commercial interface ensuring that the base contract profit is maintained.
- Make sure that contract compliance is adhered to at all times.
- Ensure that payment certificates are prepared and submitted monthly as per the timelines specified in the CSP.
- Ensure that payments are effectively approved and paid by the Engineer/Client.
- Manage the procurement team and make sure that they comply with the base commercial terms.
- Carry out weekly Commercial meetings incorporating Change Management Control, Variations, Deviations, Procurement Analysis, and Cost Versus Allowable impact.
- Ensure that the Monthly Project Reports are accurate and issued per the requirements of the project reporting schedule.
- Update the CVA with Senior Management and make sure that the CTC and Monthly Costs are managed in line with the commercial requirements of the project.
- Attend Monthly Cost meetings.
- Carry out instructions as directed by Senior Management & coordinate the Project requirements, ensuring that the Project is delivered on time and within budget.
- Understand and manage contract conditions and requirements (PPA, FIDIC, Time & Cost Claims).
- Understand and manage commercial requirements: payment certificates, variations, cost vs allowable, P&G, etc.
- Understand and manage the commercial variables of the project (Commercial Management).
- Document any changes in design and update budgets.
- Keep track of materials and order more when required.
- Prepare reports, analyses, contracts, budgets, risk assessments, and other documents.
- Assist with feasibility studies and cost/benefit analysis.
- Develop and maintain suitable methodologies to measure productivity and implement incentive schemes.
- Carry out other duties and responsibilities, as required, and as requested by the other members of the management team.
About You
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering or related field of study.
- 3 years of work experience and above.
- Experience in a similar role in a construction company specializing in road and bridge construction projects.
- Candidates with international company experience will be given priority.
- Must be commercially aware, honest, and show high levels of integrity.
