About the Ethiopian Red Cross Society (ERCS)
Established in 1935, the Ethiopian Red Cross Society is one of Ethiopia’s oldest and largest humanitarian organizations, providing aid in response to both natural and manmade disasters. ERCS operates disaster risk reduction programs and collaborates with various stakeholders, including the Ethiopian Government, IFRC, ICRC, and local communities, to promote resilience and support communities across Ethiopia. The organization has an extensive reach with 14 regional offices, 33 zonal branches, and numerous local committees.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop procurement and action plans for timely execution of ERCS’s work programs.
- Analyze market trends, supplier information, and service quality to enhance procurement processes.
- Manage a database of suppliers, ensure timely registration, review performance, and identify potential new suppliers.
- Prepare and review national society standard specifications for goods, services, and works.
- Assist in policy formulation for cost-effective procurement processes.
- Compile bid documents, conduct bid analysis, and manage tender documents.
- Oversee both foreign and local purchases, ensuring regulatory compliance, including customs clearance.
- Lead in preparing procurement-related budgetary requirements and documentation for payments.
- Handle insurance claims for goods in transit and manage discrepancy reports on received commodities.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, liaise with government offices, NGOs, and stakeholders.
- Facilitate day-to-day procurement activities, support program needs, and contribute to procurement division performance reports.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Supply Chain Management, Procurement Management, Business Administration, or related fields.
- Experience: 8 years (Bachelor’s) / 6 years (Master’s) relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office, experience in market research, supplier selection, and procurement of goods/services.
