Job Description

The incumbent for this position will be based in Wollega, Kondola Woreda, and will be responsible for ensuring the successful implementation of Shelter and NFI (Non-Food Item) activities. This includes overseeing the relocation process, providing shelter repair kits to the most vulnerable households in Kondala Woreda, and collaborating smoothly with the respective district government and WVE department. The role involves leading the operationalization of projects like providing shelter repair kits and monitoring the progress of households affected by the damage.

In collaboration with all partners at different levels, the individual will coordinate physical implementation, financial accomplishments, and target beneficiaries, while monitoring the impact in the designated area. Responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring the appropriate provision of Shelter repair kits for the most vulnerable groups.
  • Participating in quality assurance of monitoring conducted at the field level.
  • Implementing site closure strategies and ensuring the rehabilitation of areas formerly occupied by camps or collective centers.
  • Preparing reports on grant activities, indicators, and achievements for submission to World Vision (WV) as per set schedules (monthly, quarterly, and annually).
  • Ensuring proper coordination with all humanitarian partners, Zonal authorities, and local structures.

Job Requirements

Required Professional Experience:

  • Experience in the implementation of Shelter and NFI activities.
  • Humanitarian field experience with substantial exposure to aid agencies.
  • At least three years’ experience in implementing shelter and infrastructure projects in a humanitarian context, with previous involvement in implementation processes.

Required Education, Training, License, Registration, and Certification:

  • University Degree in Engineering (e.g., Civil, Hydraulic, Construction Management, or a related field), or an equivalent Shelter and NFI humanitarian experience.

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Excellent English communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to express ideas clearly and persuasively to senior internal and external stakeholders.

Travel and/or Work Environment Requirement:

  • This position requires regular travel between Kebeles and village-based travel.

Physical Requirements:

  • Candidates require a high level of physical and mental fitness, particularly within high-risk environments.
