1. Programme Development Officer

Job Summery

The Programme Development Officer will be a key member of the programme development team. He/She will work in coordination with programme team to draft grant proposals and reports for micro grant projects, develop content for fundraising and communications requests, as well as conduct prospect research and assist with fundraising effort of the organization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • In coordination with program team prepare, present, analyse, and evaluate grant advertisements, applications, and grant agreement/award documents to ensure consistency with program priorities, goals, and objectives
  • Develop and prepare multiple on shelf grant proposals under the agriculture and livelihoods and climate mitigation and adaptation programmes on an ongoing basis.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact with the relevant Project Manager during implementation of micro (small) grants for the on-going review of deliverables
  • Co-ordinate the delivery of micro grant proposals, reports and all necessary Information with the programme heads review micro grant deliverables to ensure technical integrity and to ensure complete information has been provided in accordance with the terms of the grant agreement
  • Map out possible funding partners (donors) and other relevant partners (technical partnership, coordination) and engaging with them
  • Identify relevant and eligible calls for proposal in line with the organization’s thematic focus

Job Requirement

Education, Knowledge & Professional Experience

  • BSc/MSc degree in Development Studies or related field
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of grant writing, rural development, or nonprofit experience
  • Exceptional writing skills, including writing for varied audiences, and evidenced oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in English is essential

Duty Station: Vita Country Office in Addis Ababa with frequent field travel as needed

 

2. Gender and Safeguarding Officer

Job Summery

The Gender and Safeguarding Officer will work closely with the programme team and lead the gender and safeguarding related activities

The Gender and Safeguarding Officer will have overall accountability to ensure strategic development, delivery of program/project results, and partner’s satisfaction for the integration of gender and safeguarding in the agricultural and livelihoods development; and climate change mitigation and adaptation programs.

The Job Holder will have primary role to ensure that the Programmes integrates gender equality and safeguarding principles into all the activities.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that mainstreaming gender is included throughout the implementation of Agriculture and Livelihoods; and climate change mitigation and adaptation programs
  • Review the gender sensitive analysis conducted previously and the gender-mainstreaming plans, and monitoring compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and implementation of gender-responsive programming initiatives, including targeted interventions to address the needs and interests of women, young people, and marginalized groups.
  • Responsible for designing, collecting, processing, analysing gender within the Programmes
  • Work along with gender and safeguarding focal persons at the field level and design reporting system
  • Produce Gender and safeguarding communication materials in local language to promote social and behavioural change and strengthen community participation
  • Support the organization and facilitation of training sessions, workshops, and community dialogues on gender equality, gender-based violence prevention, and safeguarding practices, ensuring active participation and engagement of project beneficiaries.
  • Provides technical advice and guidance, ensuring an intersectional approach and up-to-date safeguarding guidance across the Vita Programmes.
  • Identifies and mitigates risks and ensures the protection, security and safety of all personnel, partners and beneficiaries.

Develops the appropriate mechanisms for periodic Gender and safeguarding reviews and adaptations.

Job Requirement

Education, Knowledge & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor of Arts or Master of Arts Degree in social sciences, Gender and Development studies, social work, humanities, or another related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrable experience in the technical area of gender mainstreaming, community development and safeguarding
  • Familiarity with safeguarding standards and principles, international protection frameworks and mechanisms on safeguarding.
  • Strong analytical skills related to feedback mechanisms, safeguarding, protection, and similar matters.
  • Good communication and report writing skills is crucial.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to develop positive relationships with country and Dublin team members at multiple levels in the organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with all project partners and external stakeholders involved in Vita’s programmes

3. Communications and Media Officer

Job Summery

The Communications and Media Officer will coordinate and lead the communications and media related activities in consultation with Country Office and Dublin Office communication teams and lead the implementation of the Vita Communications Strategy to increase resource mobilization and diversify funding sources to advance Vita’s objectives. The position holder will be responsible for establishing and managing relations with media representatives within Ethiopia, including providing background information on Vita Ethiopia and supporting the documentation and dissemination outputs of all country programs.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate all the communication activities of the organization in consultation with the program and administration team
  • Develop and/or revise the communication, fundraising & partnerships strategy, devise and implement an annual plan, thereby strengthening the communications functions of the organization
  • Design, write, edit, produce and distribute appropriate communications products (e.g. newsletters, progress reports, short note series, brochures, Web message) and communicate consistent and coherently strategic messages about Vita and its activities.
  • Responsible for providing technical support to the program team and local communities in developing project and program related communication materials and ensuring high standards of production
  • Maintaining up to date and relevant collections of these works, including case studies, video files, presentations and reports
  • Prepare M&E reports and data for public consumption / awareness raising and ensure they are widely distributed.
  • As part of a team, plan, organize and successfully execute conferences, workshops and showcasing events

Job Requirement

Education, Knowledge & Professional Experience

  • Bachelor Arts Degree in Mass Communication and Journalism, Communication, Public Relations or International Development
  • Minimum five years’ work experience in a similar position, preferably in an International NGO or private sector
  • Ability and experience writing for different purposes to deliver material suited to different audiences;
  • Strong social media skills and ability to produce good quality images and Videos.
  • Knowledge and experience of Adobe skills, ability to use Adobe’s software products and others effectively is necessary
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively liaise with all project partners and external stakeholders involved in Vita’s programme
