JOB DESCRIPTION
Child Safeguarding:
Level 3: The role holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g., once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work in country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.
ROLE PURPOSE:
The Nutrition Coordinator will coordinate the implementation of emergency nutrition response (CMAM/IMAM, MIYCF/IYCF-E, TSFP, SMART Survey, and family MUAC), Health and wash activities implemented by SCI at woreda level and will provide technical input, management, and support to SCI nutrition team in the woreda, he/she will Liaise and established contacts at woreda level with government health office, Agriculture office, water supply office, and NGOs for smooth implantation and representation.
The Nutrition coordinator will ensure that the nutrition program is technically managed, functioning properly, providing care of quality to all beneficiaries, and respecting protocols and principles of good practice. He/She will support the effective delivery of the health, nutrition & WASH program activities at the site and community level. She/he will support the delivery of training packages and monitoring tools.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
Program responsibility, protocol, and procedures:
- Implement effectively CMAM and IMAM nutrition programmes especially TSFP in line with humanitarian standards under the guidance of the zonal nutrition coordinator
- responsible for the integration of health, nutrition, and WASH day-to-day activities at assigned project site activities
- Plan and supervise implementation of project activities together with woreda health office counterparts
- Provide technical guidance and ensure Save the Children nutrition staff and health workers use national guidelines for the management of acute malnutrition
- Ensure the nutrition activities are implemented timely and the nutrition budget is spent as per the plan
- Ensure all staff understand project activities and implement within the standard, Coach and capacitate Nutrition teams, and make sure services provided with optimum standard
- Coach and mentor WoHo staff working at different levels including woreda health office, health centres, and health posts
- Conduct training needs assessment, health facility functionality, and other assessments with WoHo
- Make sure appropriate distribution and utilization of supplies and equipment provided by SCI
- Organize and facilitate pieces of training to health workers and health extension workers in different thematic areas
- Conduct post-training follow-up, routine supportive supervision, and joint monitoring
- Participate in woreda-level integrated supportive supervision and other monitoring visits
- Organize and facilitate kick-off meetings, review meetings, and other events to enhance ownership and sustainability
- Lead and Support the Piloting of family MUAC in selected kebeles
- Asses local capacity and ensure programs are delivering results according to relevant standards, policies, and program strategy
- Ensure appropriate and consistent health, and nutrition education messaging is provided in the communities
- Facilitate and support the development and scheduling of outreach activities to include support of MOH in the work plan
- Represent SCI in health and nutrition coordination to include also WASH related meetings with stakeholders
- Take part in the project set-up, technical support visit, monitoring visits, surveys, and evaluations
- Support in the management of essential drugs and medical supplies efficiently
- Supervise, and build the capacity of health and nutrition team members in relevant technical competencies.
- Ensure that the health and nutrition program staff have clearly defined objectives and understand their responsibilities.
- With the support of the MEAL team ensure project performance is tracked and quality standards adhered to
- Coordinate any awareness-raising campaigns/behavior change communication in the community in coordination with MOH
- Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote excellent communication and referral between different programs such as IYCF-E, CMAM, child-friendly space, health, food distribution, WASH, etc.
- Conduct staff performance evaluations regularly
- Follow up on timely requests, approval, procurement, and distribution of the project logistics, supply, and equipment
- Prepare weekly and monthly movement plans and reports and contribute to timely donor report
- Perform other activities assigned by the immediate supervisor
Other duties
- Ensures management and coordination of supporting HEWs and volunteers.
- Pays particular attention to the gender and diversity dynamics of patients and co-workers; Ensures that gender and power dynamics related to patients and co-workers are taken into consideration.
- Engages and collaborates closely with SC’s Child Protection and WASH program.
- Participates and assists in preparation/compilation of project medical data and monthly report
- Participates in training to improve medical performance
- Participates in outreach activities such as health and nutrition needs assessment, vaccination campaigns, mobile clinics, and improvement of health promotion and hygiene in the community
- Assists in emergency response to disease outbreaks, as needed
- Be prepared to host visits and represent Save the Children International.
- Prepared to report to the PHC facility for health emergencies Works as per allocated shift pattern/ rota
Training and capacity building:
- Provide staff appraisals and supportive superstition
- Conduct orientation and training to build the capacity of SCI staff, partners, and the community at large
Monitoring and reporting
- Regularly update of databases and ensure quality checking at site
- Prepare daily/monthly reports on activities and any necessary reports as requested
- Updates follow-up information of enrolled cases from regular household visits and share with technical officers
Advocacy and communication:
- Facilitate cross-sectoral programming, particularly to promote communication and referral, health, education and CP programming
- Liaise with other humanitarian actors, partners and community groups to maximize collaboration and ensure proper coordination of activities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
ESSENTIAL:
- BSC degree in Nursing, nutrition or public health from accredited universities or health colleges
- Minimum 3 years working experience with NGOs in emergency health and nutrition programs
- Certificates on IMAM/SAM TOT Trainings
- Sphere standards trainings
- Knowledge on Standard methods and indicators for assessing nutritional status, including rapid assessment and SMART methodology
- Experience in cascading family MUAC approach
- Experience in Integrated Pharmaceuticals Logistics System (IPLS)
- Experience MNCH in emergencies
- Experience in WASH programs
- Demonstrable ability at report writing and excellent communication skills
- Experience with budget management
- Proven experience on supervising and coaching staffs
- Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions
- Computer literate, skills on Microsoft word, excel and internet
- Fluency in in written and spoken English and local languages
- Excellent interpersonal skill and able to work in a multicultural team
